Joint Educational Event on Cybersecurity and Cyber Hygiene for Students in Chornomorsk

On April 30, 2026, representatives of the Juvenile Prevention Department of Odesa Region, together with NGO Soft Power, conducted an educational event for 7th–9th grade students in the city of Chornomorsk on the topics of cybersecurity and cyber hygiene.

The event was held under the title:

“Safety as a Superpower: Your Space – Your Rules!”

In a friendly and open atmosphere, participants discussed important aspects of today’s digital environment. During the session, students learned:

  • how to recognize manipulation on the internet;
  • how to respond to hate speech and online pressure;
  • how to confidently say “no” and maintain personal boundaries;
  • how to protect their accounts and personal data;
  • how to support a friend and avoid becoming a victim of cybercriminals.

The practical part of the event generated particular interest among the students. At the end of the session, participants had the opportunity to test their knowledge using VR headsets by completing interactive tasks and navigating simulated scenarios that required quick decision-making.

At the students’ request, an anonymous survey was also conducted among approximately 60 attendees, with 19 respondents participating. The results showed that:

  • 47.4% considered the topic “Cyber Armor: Protection Against Blackmail” to be the most relevant;
  • 31.6% highlighted the importance of “Social Radar: How to Recognize Manipulators and Protect Your Personal Boundaries”;
  • 21.1% voted for “Legal Self-Defense: Rights, Police, and the Law.”

Initiatives like this help children develop safe online behavior, strengthen critical thinking skills, and foster a responsible attitude toward their personal safety in the digital environment.
